A week ago a flotilla of about thirty fat breasted male robins, showing off their well fedness from the bugs and worms of their flight north, began landing on the lawn spotted with melting snow. More worms? Perhaps, but the hard ground's just letting go of the winter frost. With lots of chatter they began their sharp eyed quest for seasonal territory. Their mates, still living comfortably in the American south, will be along soon. No question an uplifting harbinger of spring. We're ready.
